The romantic lure of Island life is alive and well just off the coast of Essex. Mersea Island, nestled between the river Blackwater and Colne estuaries is approximately nine miles south-east of Colchester, and is without doubt one of the county's best kept secrets.

The island is approximately five miles by two miles, and has a perimeter of twelve miles encompassing the town of West Mersea and the village of East Mersea. The name is a derivation of the Anglo Saxon word ‘Meresig’, which dates from the early 10th Century and means 'island of the pool'.

Events - Fun day @ Two Tides, Seaview Holiday Site

On 26th July '08 Seaview Holiday Park West Mersea will be holding two fun packed events;

From 3pm - 6pm, we are having a Pirate Party for which wristbands are available for £1, there will be a Treasure Hunt, a Pirate Tea Party, lots of fun stalls and Pirate singing & dancing.  There will also be a 'Pirate Makeover' stall for any latecomers.  We also have a great raffle, with a wide variety of prizes (raffle tickets are £1 per strip). We have a balloon race and tickets for this are also on sale at £1

In the evening, from 8pm - til close, we are holding a Grand Ball.  The suggested donation is £5, payable in advance, for a wristband.  All wristbands entitle the wearer to a buffet dinner and entertainment is free.  Again, for latecomers, we will have bow ties and tiaras on sale @ £1.50.  We will begin the evening with setting free the balloons and then the raffle prize winners will be announced.
